About The Show

The audience response to the staged performance of

Living IncogNegro revealed that plenty of people have their own version of what it’s like when their physical appearance contradicts the inner worlds churning underneath their skin.

There were even more people who asked for it to be filmed because it could help others understand their journey or help multiracial loved ones feel less alone in the world.

When Gin realized this story was far bigger than her personal experience, she took the leap and caught a live performance on film.

Living IncogNegro

The potential for connection and social evolution

fuel Gin’s passion for this project.

Even though she is a veteran performer, Gin struggled not to choke on her words while reading an early draft of the show because it was the first time she had publicly shared her experiences as a multiracial American.

It felt too taboo, vulnerable, exposed, and alone.

To her shock, the laughter and the tears audiences shared with her revealed that people who could identify with the topic don’t have to feel isolated, and that together, we can create a shift in social consciousness and laugh at the same time.
